I’m off to beeyooteeful Pasadena, Calif., in the morning, there to find out my department’s fate, and WTF regarding the shuffle in management.
Best Case Scenario: I’m being named to replace my former boss, complete with a big raise, keys to the executive washroom, and a ticker-tape parade down Colorado Blvd.
Worst Case Scenario: I’m being demoted, preliminary to being fired, and will end my days starving to death in a cardboard box.
I suspect the truth will fall somewhere between.
I leave way too early in the a.m., and return way too late in the p.m. And since I’ll likely be sitting in the cube opposite the office door of my new boss (former boss’ boss), my blogging will perforce be a tad constrained. (A sad follow-through to those new readers — 2,700 of them , ten times my daily average, according to Site Meter — I’ve had today. My apologies.)
“Expect me when you see me.”
Keeping my fingers crossed that it’s good news, Dave!
Good luck to you, Dave. I’ll be wishing the best for you!
Bah, Only foolish humans would not see your value. I see great things in your future. And I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
I’m guessing the stress from this is probably off the Richter scale. Crap on a stick, I can’t believe they’re dragging you all the way out to California.
This is probably good news. All digits crossed.
Well, it’s not quite as bad as all that.
I mean, if I were really going to be transferred to the Yazoo office or something and consigned to scrubbing toilet bowls, I would probably not be being flown out to California to be told. Travel costs, y’know.
My peers (formerly reports to my boss, now also reports to my new boss, the old boss’ boss) were all visited personally at their sites by the New Boss.
My coming to California, instead, could be a Bad Sign (not worth his effort to travel to Denver). Or a Good Sign (chance to kick off something big here at Corporate HQ). Or just part of the vagueries of his travel schedule.
Arrived at the office around 9:30a. Have cooled my heels since then while he has been on one of his endless series of conference calls. He did finally pop in a minute or two ago, say he had to wrap up two more calls, and then we’d head out to lunch and spend the afternoon together.
More as I know it …
Lunch with Boss went well.
Neither ticker-tape nor refridgerator carton seem to be in my immediate future. Interesting Times, though.
Film at 11.
If things go as indicated, it should be busy, interesting, productive times ahead. I’m feeling guardedly pleased by how the meetings went, and am hoping that the plans and directions I’m hearing about will actually come to pass.
And I get to go home a little bit early, too … 🙂
I’m crossing all of my fingers and toes for ya, guy. I home I don’t get a debilitating cramp, but that’s the price that you pay for the people who you like.
Boy, I am glad to hear it went well.
My sister worked for a company based in CA and they had all their employees fly in (sales) from all over on Thursday, and on Friday announced that they were locking the doors forever at 4:00 PM.
I was holding my breath for you.
Now I can breathe. Yeah!
