Well, it was kind of a scattered, mixed birthday for Margie this year. Today, the Day Itself, she was on Kitten Duty, which meant she got to go assauge her desire for attention at 4 a.m., not to mention get up with her at 7:30. Only remembered it was her birthday after that, which is why I’ve volunteered to take her for the next five nights. Here’s knocking on wood.

Click on images to enlarge. We spent the afternoon (and into the evening) helping Randy playtest his Ambercon Northwest northwest, Big Trouble in Amber City. Margie was originally going to sit out, but a number of other testers begged off at the last second, so rather than lounging about in birthday sloth, she got to play (fun) and help take care of Kitten in the basement (not so much).

Order of Motherhood, Second ClassGifts were a mixed lot. Some satin PJs, a few interesting books. I took her to dinner at Le Central on Thursday (and am doing so again tomorrow night, since they have a really cool set menu going on). I did get her two items that were of notewortiness (click on the pix for larger images).

First, a copper chain-mail dice bag. (Which was vaguely ironic, since ADRPG, which we played on her birthday proper, is diceless. She did get to use it at her Friday game, along with some d8s she’d needed.)

Second, I found her Mothers Day Gift (the Soviet Order of Maternal Glory, 2nd Class medal), so it became a birthday gift from Katherine. (And I think it looks nicer than the 1st Class medal, so that’s why I got that one.)

Not the most spectacular gifts in the world, but hopefully memorable ones.
