It may not be Saturday, but it is time for the Saturday Scruples.
1. Your brother is an activist. You suspect he may be involved in a series of bombings. Do you notify authorities? Tough call, if only because I can’t see John doing that sort of thing. That being said, if I had a serious concern about it, I’d probably talk with my folks first, then, if still having a reasonable suspicion, I’d call the authority.
Unless, of course, I believed in what he was doing. Which sounds extraordinarily unlikely.
2. A friend’s spouse is coming on to you. Do you tell the friend? No, probably not. But I tell Margie.
3. Your company’s profits will double if you replace 22 long-time employees with new software. Do you? Yes. But I see if there is a way that I can apply those 22 employees to something else that will increase revenues. Or, failing that, I dedicate a chunk of those profits to some sort of severence package.
