It’s been a long week …
1. Yummier: Chocolate ice cream or strawberry cheesecake? I actually prefer my cheese cake “straight up.” So chocolate ice cream. Though that’s not my favorite ice cream, either.
2. Better to watch on TV: Movies or sports? Movies? On commericial TV? Surely you jest. Not that I watch that much sports, either.
3. A better web browser: MSIE or Netscape (or tell us your own favorite!) I have no particular quibbles with IE (with the proper add-ons). It’s the only one I use (company standard), so I can’t really speak to the others.
4. A better way to travel: Automobile or bus/train? I would enjoy trying to travel by train some time, but I enjoy the independence of automobiles when vacationing.
5. Your preferred camera: Digital or film? These days? Digital. Next camera I buy will be digital, but with lens mounts and all, so I can take decent distance photos.
6. A Cooler Vehicle: Motorcycle or sports car? Gotta be a (ouch! okay, honey!) a sensible family sedan.
7. More fun: Video games or board games? Both have their places. Board games with friends, video games solo.
8. Sexier: A perfect body or an intelligent mind? Intelligent mind. Though the body doesn’t hurt.
9. A stinkier smell: Skunk or gasoline (petrol)? Skunk, definitely. I like the smell of gasoline.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: What is more important to you: making a ton of money and being at the top of your field, or finding your soulmate and living a comfortable but not wealthy life? I gotta go with the romantic “soul mate” answer.
1. You’ve been given the chance to go back to a point in your life and change a single decision you made; you’ll lose everything that happened since then, but you’ll get to live in the shiny new parallel timeline that develops. Would you? What would you change? And would you want to keep the memory of this timeline, too? Y’know, I have to say that I’m pretty happy with where my life is right now. There are too many precious things (Margie and Katherine, for starters) that I wouldn’t think of giving up, so I’d have to answer no. Even though there are decisions I’ve made I bitterly regret, I would regret missing what I have now even more.
2. If you could legally sell your vote in the next Presidential election — hand someone a signed, blank ballot in exchange for money — would you do it? And what price would you ask? Nah. I like voting for President, even if I never vote with the electoral majority in my state.
3. What one object to you own that has the most sentimental value to you? I’m a sentimental romantic, and a pack rat, so that’s a really tough question. I mean, just on me here I have a wrist watch which was my Dad’s in high school, my wedding ring from Margie, a “going steady” ring she bought me, and one of a matched pair of necklaces that we bought while dating, not to mention a photo of Katherine as a baby in my wallet, and a key chain I’ve had since college. And that’s just on my person. Yeesh.
Onesome: View– What is your favorite scenic site, either around your place, where you’ve traveled, or just that one special picture (like that Ansel Adams “Half Dome” shot)? Tintern Abbey. Just to grab an incredibly scenic place out of a hat. Though, to be far, there are a lot of scenic sites I’ve seen.
Twosome: From– How far is it from home to work? Are you a long distance commuter or do you just schlep on into the dining room/office? It’s about 30 miles, or 35-45 minutes in traffic. I generally work from work, but I can work from home if need be (hampered primarily by a dial-up connection, an active toddler, and company policy).
Threesome: Afar– for the travelers out there, just how far have you gone? I mean, is the trip to Grandma’s about it? …or have you made it farther abroad? I’ve made it out of the country to the UK, but that’s all. I’d like to visit elsewhere in Europe, and the Pacific Rim, and parts of North Africa and the Middle East. Some day.
1. In your mind who was the greatest person in the Twentieth Century? Who was the worst? I’m inclined to say one of the two Roosevelts, probably Franklin, was the greatest, in terms of overall (positive) impact. Plenty of runners-up, though. If the “greatest” is difficult because even they have feet of clay, the “worst” is tougher, since it’s always possible to point to someone who can trump someone else’s sins. I’d be hard-pressed to decide between Hitler and Stalin in that category — Hitler was definitely more insane, Stalin simply more evil. Again, plenty of runners-up.
2. Who was the greatest artist, author, film maker and musician of the Twentieth Century? Oh, jeez, please. No comment. Um, Windsor-Smith, Straczynski, Jackson, and Baez. Or not.
3. What was the greatest invention of the Twentieth Century or what was the most important event? The Russian Revolution was the most important event, having tremendous influence on WWI, WWII, and the Cold War, with all the various techological, political, and social changes that went with it. The most significant invention was the microchip, though the nuclear bomb ranks right behind it.
Bonus Question for Comments: So what really was the trial of the century? Nuremburg (as a whole).
1. What was the last TV show you watched? Hard to say. Last show that was on the TV was probably Clifford the Big Red Dog last night, but I can’t say I watched it. That last show I intentionally tuned to watch was Junkyard Wars earlier in the week, but I didn’t really watch it. Last time I sat down to watch the TV was last Saturday — but we watched a DVD. Hrm.
2. What was the last thing you complained about? I think I just complained to Katherine about her not telling us she had to go poop.
3. Who was the last person you complimented and what did you say? I complemented Katherine a few minutes ago about her ability to bounce a balloon back and forth.
4. What was the last thing you threw away? I threw away an Amazon box that had a movie and a graphic novel in it.
5. What was the last website (besides this one) that you visited? 3xThursday. 🙂

You certainly suggest reasonable alternatives. Though BWS can do very fine “fine” art, vs just illustration — and I’ve not been all that pleased with Byrne’s art for some time.
Film makers was tough for me. Few out there I know well enough by name, fewer still whose work I universally enjoy.
If you want to mention Herrmann, I’d also toss in Barry. Or Williams, for that matter. But more likely Barry.
