A day late, if not a dollar short, it’s time for This-or-That Tuesday: Animals.
1. Cats or dogs? Cats fit our lifestyle a lot better than dogs. I like having friends with dogs, though.
2. Butterflies or birds? Birds. Butterflies are pretty, but kind of useless beyond that.
3. Horses or cows? I suppose it depends on the purpose for which one needs to decide. Aesthetically, horses, I suppose.
4. Turtles or snakes? I think we actually had a turtle as a pet, once. It wasn’t for long, though, if we did. On the other hand, a kid up the street in Mountain View had a snake, who was always getting out and heading for our yard (not surprisingly, since we had toads in our yard). Frankly, I wouldn’t want either.
5. Frogs or grasshoppers? I like frogs. And, as mentioned, toads.
6. Lions or tigers? Tigers.
7. Elephants or mice? Hmmm. Elephants, ideally. On the other hand, I took care of mice at the bio lab in college, and that was kind of fun. Well, taking care of them wasn’t, but breeding them for interesting colors was.
8. Porcupines or aardvarks? Hmmmm. We watch a lot of Arthur, so aardvarks, I guess.
9. Unicorns or dragons? Definitely dragons. Unless they’re on Dragon Tales.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You live in a rather dumpy apartment. A friend offers you a chance to be a roommate at a new place s/he is moving into, but they don’t allow pets. You have a pet. Do you find your pet a new home and take the new place, or do you keep your pet and stay put? I might look for a new home with a trusted friend for the pet, but, failing that, my commitment to the pet comes before the casual comfort of a better apartment. That’s part of the deal.
