On the Internet, nobody can hear you punctuate

Or put spaces into names, for that matter.

There are a lot of Net literati out there who utterly and totally pooh-pooh the use of hyphens into domain names. But, damn, it would sure be handy sometimes.

Take for example the good folks at PowerGen, an English electricity firm. They started a new division in Italy, and came up with the exciting domain powergenitalia.com.

Um … yeah …

There are also the folks who wanted to come up with a convenient cross-reference of Hollywood agents and actors. Who Represents whom, in other words. Hence the gift of whorepresents.com.

There was also supposedly a dot-com named Experts Exchange which had the transitional domain expertsexchange.com. They eventually did go to a hyphenated domain.

Which, frankly, strikes us here at hill-kleerup.org (and, I suspect, those dashed people at bears-cave.com) as a fine idea.
