Everybody sort of makes fun of the normal people in the Marvel Universe who have such a knee-jerk repugnance towards mutants. “They should be more open-minded, less bigotted,” we say, drawing parallels between mutant oppression and various civil rights movements (mutants were, in the 60s, the “blacks” of the Marvel Universe — now they’re the “gays”).

Except maybe, if we actually lived there, and we saw folks like this wandering around, we might be a bit less tolerant. Or at least have concerns about “our sister marrying one.” I’m not saying anti-mutant prejudice in the MU is correct, by any means, but these Photoshopped creations are seriously creepy, especially the human-based ones. They seriously push the “Other” button, and make me wonder which side I’d be on in Earth-M.
