FRIDAY
The free afternoon for me turned into a concerted effort to try to pull together a pick-up RPG session for the evening. Didn’t actually happen, but Randy came down and we all went to the pizza place over by McDonald’s with the Testerfolk, then Doyce and Randy came over and we chatted about stuff both consequential and trivial for a while.
The best aspect of it was the sense that, just as we sort of went into internal huddle mode when Katherine was born for several weeks, Doyce and Jackie have done much the same, and are ready to start Doing Stuff again. More specifically, Doyce is talking about some actual tabletop F2F gaming, a fun prospect.
SATURDAY
The afternoon was chewed up with Wallace & Gromit, plus this and that household bit. The evening was taken up by a vestry dinner at the new rector’s house. It was a good dinner, and good company; I’m both eagerly looking forward and somewhat reluctantly anticipating my vestry term ending this year, despite dire threats promises that I’ll still be called on to participate in various activities and capacities.
SUNDAY
Cleaned up the place in anticipation of an off-week Game Day — the Testerfolk, Stan, Randy, De and ourselves. Rachel was over with De, and she and Katherine (and Justin) played for most of the afternoon. Several rounds of “True Colors” ensued, as well as much eating, culminating in a turkey dinner.
The party also served as a rather low-key farewell for Justin before he heads off South Dakota-wards. And that’s all I’m going to say about that.
