Started getting the flood of pre-beginning-of-school mail yesterday, outlining schedules and Back to School Nights and Picture Days and Cafeteria Menus and Bus Routes and all that good stuff. Our calendar, which had been looking sort of thin in January/August, is fleshing out nicely for the rest of the year.
We also got a letter from the principal, telling us that Katherine’s teacher, Mrs. Stork, had resigned and moved to Indiana (I’m sure the underlying story is prosaic, but it does make one wonder). So Katherine will have a new teacher to the school, who’s last name I now forget — a young lady (one presumes) who’s been teaching for 5-6 years, having moved last year up from Arizona to teach in Douglas Co.
The result of which is that the Meet the Teacher and Child Assessment for Katherine on Friday has been canceled, since Ms. Whatsername is going to be busy getting her classroom set up (ah, memories) and going through District Boot Camp activities. Joy.
Katherine seems excited by the whole First Grade thing, which is neat. Looking forward to it, too.
