Unblogged Bits for Tue, 13 Apr 2010, 2:01PM

Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….

  1. Frontier name to remain, Midwest name to be dropped – The Denver Post – Huzzah for the animals! Plus, cookies!
  2. Beware If You’re So Bold As To Take A Camera To Downtown Disney – I may make a point of doing so. I usually carry a camera around WDW, including Downtown Disney, and have never had a problem. On the other hand, I have no need or desire to go to Downtown Disney these days (sighAdventurersClubsigh).
  3. Indy’s Streetcar Past reveals itself in 2010: Curt
  4. Google releases major overhaul of Google Docs; faster, more responsive, better collaboration – Interesting note about the Offline support going away (for a while).
  5. How To Cook Bacon With A Machine Gun [pics] | CrazyCrackerz.com – Damn. This wins all kinds of AWESOME. Hmmm … Father’s Day is coming up …
  6. Twitter Blog: Hello World – Twitter takes tentative steps into an actual business model. Let’s see what happens …
  7. Jack Kirby of Marvel Comics Left Some Ideas Behind – NYTimes.com – Kirby, of course, was as subject to Sturgeon’s Law as anyone else — but even his junk had pizazz. I don’t expect any great successes to come out of these recovered ideas, but I wouldn’t guarantee they won’t either. It will certainly be more material for folks who study the artist/creator.
  8. I am, apparently, not a real man. – Never mind as well that nose hair (and the mucus on it) actually serves a useful purpose in trapping particulate matter, pollin, and germs. Huzzah for another advance in cosmetic activity that harms your health!
  9. S.O.S. Now – Stop Oil Speculation Now – The Solution – I’m all in favor of making a profit, and even of speculation where the risk is borne by the speculator. But as we now see again, oil speculation doesn’t just impact the person taking the gamble, but the overall economy and each and everyone of us — our loss to their (occasional) gain. Feh.
  10. A draft of a post I’m working on – Having just passed 15 years myself, I heartily endorse these suggestions (and need to reread them periodically myself).
  11. Skin Deep – Unshaven Women – Free Spirits or Just Unkempt? – NYTimes.com – Eek! Horror! Women have hair (besides on their heads, of course)?! Eek!
