Unfortunately, too many people (spouses) don't see it that way.
Bah. You hang it whichever way you find does not attract the attention of your cat. End of discussion. For me, it was down the back. Over the top was sheer folly.
Or, set it on one end.
Just make sure it's an easier option than your hand towels.
