Which, yeah, neither should be there, but only one is actually connected to the electrical outlet in the wall.

Second story this week about teens sleeping with phones under their pillows that ended in disaster.
Teen Dies After Getting Electrocuted By Her iPhone In Her Sleep
An 18-year-old teenager died in her sleep when her iPhone 4S electrocuted her while it was charging overnight.
+Dave Hill yes the headline could be more accurate ! what made me nervous is I charge my nexus 7 overnight and the outlet is right behind my bed so its on my bed all night! but 2 years and never had an issue!
+steph wanamaker I probably wouldn't want a cord to the outlet lying on my bed, but at least making sure it's an authorized accessory and not a cheap knock-off may be helpful.
+Dave Hill yes I have been doing it for 2 years lol ! its not an iphone though or a cheap knockoff charger
+steph wanamaker I don't think the iPhone itself is the issue here but an electrical short or exposure on the cord or at the adapter end (which could as easily happen with an Android or a feature phone, for that matter).
I'm generally not comfortable with my mattress mushing up against an occupied outlet, let alone leaving something on the other end sitting on the bedding. Electricity > Sparks > Fire. But to each their own. 🙂
+Dave Hill I may change but then will have to charge it in bathroom at night! the other outlets in my room are occupied lol I think ut is better to be safe than sorry
Very likely a counterfeit product. http://youtu.be/wi-b9k-0KfE
My phone stays plugged into the computer overnight. I do not need it at hand while sleeping!
My iPod is my alarm clock, and my early-warning storm detection system. I use an actual, Apple charger bought in an Apple store.
+George Wiman you should be ok then
