It’s time for this week’s Friday Five, this week with all-car action!

1. Do you have a car? If so, what kind of car is it? “My” car is a ’95 Saturn SC2 coupe, sort of a metallic pink in color. Zippy and immune to dents and dings, but a bit cramped, too light for icy roads, and a two-seater max.

“Margie’s” car is an ’00 Toyota Sienna mini-van. Well-built and comfy and just perfect for a family (or transporting people … or sheets of plywood).

2. Do you drive very often? All the time, to and from work, on the weekend for errands, and occasionally for holidays.

I enjoy driving, and tend to be the default driver when the family piles into the car.

3. What’s your dream car? I keep dreaming of a convertable, though it’s probably highly impractical. The BMW Z3 is on my “oooh, you can get me one of those” list. My longest-term dream car has been something in the Porsche 911 family.

4. Have you ever received a ticket? Heh. Yeah, a couple. Not many — I average one every two to three years, generally for speed, almost always justified.

5. Have you ever been in an accident? A few times. In recent years, they were ice/snow-related. Previously I skidded off an onramp once, and was hit from behind — and hit others from behind — in a couple of stop-and-go traffic incidents.

  1. My father, who like to travel, has often been heard to say that “we travel to remind ourselves why we usually live in our own homes.” Not that we who were visited mind having guests as often as possible!
