- Van: All’s right with the world, albeit the $900 hole in my checking account. Brakes replaced, flasher assembly flashing, various no-doubt-terroristic (or at least extortionate) liquids drained and refilled.

Meet the Teacher: I’d forgotten this was a combination of “Open House” and “Fill Out These Forms, Please.” We also forgot our bag of classroom supplies. Katherine did get to choose her own desk, and will be sitting (for the moment) next to Kaylee, Julia, Collin, and … um … someone else. “For the moment” as in Mrs. Snider reserved the right to shuffle kids around if they misbehave, which Katherine appears to have grokked. Meanwhile, I have eleventy-dozen forms to fill out, all with the same
dozen pieces of info on them, which is more than a bit irksome. But first class today, huzzah! Picture to follow. - Kaylee’s Birthday: The Authentic Day first birthday for KK. Doyce went all out with the purple motif, which was fun, as was watching her toddle around the house with toys old and new. She seemed to have a better idea with what to do with a plate of cake, though the end-result performance art looked much the same. Glad we were there.
UPDATE: Oh, and the new CoX patch took for-evah to load. So we (gasp) watched TV DVR. Mini-reviews:
- The Daily Show with John Stewart: Not one of the best eps, but watching JS and Samuel L. Jackson was great fun.
- The Amazing Screw-On Head: Managed to be as beautiful and surreal (and ultimately unsatisfying) as the original Mignola comic.
- Iron Chef: “Egg Challenge” was not interesting enough for Margie to watch it a second time.
- The Dick Van Dyke Show: “The Case of the Pillows” was amusing, but not DVD at his funniest.
“Duck down!”
