Clearly there is a crisis in American negotiations over Intellectual Property and Copyright and so forth, a crisis that that means that the US is somehow, in some heretofore undiscovered and shadowy corner, not pushing for maximum expansion of copyrights, especially for US media companies.
Which is clearly why Lamar Smith has pulled out and enhanced a section of the failed SOPA legislation, to make sure that there are specifically identified, more highly positioned, legally-directed advocates for US copyright holders in all such negotiations.
Clearly a needed gap in Hollywood's copyright defenses will be filled. And what's good for Hollywood is good for America! Thanks, Lamar!
