So long about 2:02 into this broadcast of Rock Center with Brian Williams on NBC, there’s an interesting story about cliches, which segues into a discussion of a Mashable article, which … well, you should look at it first, paying special attention around 2:30ff:

So, yes, that’s Brian Williams, and he’s talking about this Mashable article about cliche vacation pictures, and going through the photos in it, which includes, at one point, the 2:34 mark, this one:
So, is it actually being a cliche if you are consciously doing it as a cliche? Or is that being ironic? I lose track.
At any rate, I got a request from NBC News, asking if it was okay to use the picture, which I said yes to. And supposedly I got actual credit in the end titles, though I can’t find an online video of that and the DVR cut off prematurely.
So there we have it. I’ve had my photo features on NBC News. And Kay has made it onto national broadcast TV. What a family!
