You DO NOT get into a fight. You will lose.”
This is an important lesson, especially ‘you will lose’. Along with ‘excessive force makes you a criminal.’
The thing is if you are not getting in to regular fights then you don’t have the natural fighting instincts. You WILL get it wrong.
@LH – Absolutely. People who are acclimated to violence (a) strike first, fast, and all out, and (b) don’t hesitate. “Normal” folk … don’t. People think that in an emergency they’ll be Batman, especially if they’ve gotten some martial arts training. In an emergency, most folk … aren’t. Hell, most professionals aren’t.
