Well, took a break to take a shower, engage in some vigorous exercising to keep me awake and alert (the sort my Monitor would probably approve of), and now I’m back at it.
In the meantime, something important to discuss: the new DC logo.
DC announced the logo change back in early May, and reaction has been predictably negative. The old logo (on the left) has been around since 1977 (I remember spoofing it for “DH” Comics on invites to my Justice Squad games), and was designed by the same guy who designed the “I{heart}NY” and other such logos.
The new logo (on the right) — well, I instinctively mistrust anything with a “swoosh,” as it’s one of the most overused elements of the last decade (I predict that in another decade they will all be gone, and the element will be considered completely obsolete). It’s not clear if the reason for the change was just for change’s sake, or in order to create a “new” DC media identity.
Ultimately, I don’t care too much. The new logo isn’t great, but it isn’t bad. The old logo was of value mostly because of its age; it’s not intrinsically that fabulous of a graphic per se.
Regardless, I suppose we’ll learn to live with it.

I’m finding the problem with my waning powers of concentration is not that I can’t think of what to say, but that I’m getting too easily distracted by the books I’m reviewing. I mean, I have to flip through them a little bit, just to refresh my memory … then I find myself reading them … and, well, that’s like being a wine taster and actually drinking the wine. Fun, but unproductive.
