A Merry Dave of Windsor
+Margie Kleerup and I went to the Colorado Shakespeare Festival of The Merry Wives of Windsor tonight with Mary and Stan. The play was reimagined as taking place at a 1962 Catskill Mountains resort (the Mount Windsor Hotel), and was brilliantly done.
During the intermission, they asked for some folks to go up stage and take mambo lessons from the "hotel staff". I ended up as one of the volunteers, and Stan snapped this pic of me. Frankly, I think I have a bit of a Falstaff vibe going on there …
Had fun, though.

Moving on up (before and after)
Going up an extra 15 floors has given me a great view. I can see all three Denver sports arenas downtown (Mile High Stadium, Pepsi Center, Coors Field), and the mountains in all directions — Longs Peak to the north, Mt Evans to the west, Pikes Peak to the south.
Cell phone reception is pretty crappy this high up, though.
Stop and photograph the roses
Our rose bushes (and those of a lot of our neighbors) took some heavy damage this past winter, but you'd never know this climbing rose by our back deck is in any sort of trouble. It practically needs the trellis just to hold all the blooms and buds up.

Yes, the Google+ AutoAwesome stuff for photos is keen. But the snow one tends to be … um … somewhat sketchy in applicability.
AutoAwesome Wedding Picture
So I've upgrade my Picasa for Windows, which now offers to backup your photos to Google+, which makes them available for all sorts of keen purposes, which also means that sets of similar photos will be AutoAwesomed into semi-moving pictures.
So I have to share this set from Mary and Stan's wedding in Florence, just because it lets us sort of grin and move around a bit.

Not sure how we arranged for perfect weather and maximum color here in Denver for all of our visiting friends and relatives. But it's worked out quite nicely.
A Bloom Before Snowing
Actually, the chance that we're going to get snow tonight has dropped a fair amount, but it's still going to be blustery and in the 40s. The Agastache in our front bed (seven of 'em, by count) are looking glorious, with a bit of Russian Sage and a stray rose to keep them company.
Thought I'd preserve the memory before it fades for the season. They'll be back.
KOA 2013
Our "Kleerup Organized Activity" up at Lake San Antonio, above Paso Robles, was a great hit (again).
The theme this year was Halloween, so we had a murder mystery on Saturday, as well as costume party. Sunday's dinner was noteworthy for an "Iron Chef KOA" competition, where teams making up almost everyone at camp competed in making an hors d'oevre with different secret key ingredients.
Winery-wise, it was a mixed bag — some we want to revisit, and one (Roxo, a port cellar) that we ended up joining as club members.
Weather-wise it was fabulous. The first afternoon, Friday, was the warmest, but it never got beastly hot as it has in past years — more like mid-80s to low 90s, which is quite clement vs the 100s+ we've seen some years in the past.
About sixty people this year, including my brother (who it was great to have along). Looking forward to next year.
